Solitary bees are often overlooked.  There are about 250 species in the UK and they vary in size from the size of a grain of rice to as big as the top of my thumb.  Dandelions offer solitary bees a vital food source and leaving them to flourish rather than cutting them back or killing them is an excellent way to support our wild bees.
