Asters (Michelmas Daisies) really come into their own in late summer/autumn when other flowers are dying back.  Visited by a wide range of insects, including parasitic wasps and solitary bees, they are a must for a wildlife friendly garden.  Colours and flower style varies quite a lot, and they also make great plants for pots
